SkyTower reaches record-breaking 100-storey milestone

SkyTower at Pinnacle One Yonge has officially reached its 100th storey, becoming the first building in Canada to do so — and marking a major milestone for what will soon be the country’s tallest building.

To celebrate the construction milestone, I joined a special onsite tour, ascending 100 storeys above Downtown Toronto for an exclusive look at the progress atop the rapidly rising supertall tower.

We are pleased to celebrate Pinnacle SkyTower reaching 100 storeys. We have created a landmark, one that is making history not only for Toronto, but for all of Canada” says Michael De Cotiis, President & CEO at Pinnacle International. “Residents and guests will live, gather, and dine at Pinnacle One Yonge, and we look forward to inviting the world to experience everything we will be offering, including the restaurant on the 106th floor. This project speaks to our ambitions to develop new and exciting living experiences across North America.

SkyTower stands as the centrepiece of Pinnacle International’s ambitious One Yonge community at the foot of Yonge Street near Queens Quay. Rising from the former Toronto Star site, the tower is reshaping the eastern waterfront and anchoring one of the largest mixed-use developments underway in the city.

Designed by Hariri Pontarini Architects, SkyTower will ultimately soar 106 storeys to a final architectural height of 351.85 metres — placing its upper floors roughly level with the CN Tower’s main observation deck and firmly securing its position as Canada’s tallest building. The building features a unique 12-sided profile, and will be topped off by a 700-tonne tuned massed damper (TMD) — both which help to counteract wind loads.

100 storeys is just the start.” says Anson Kwok, Vice President, Sales and Marketing at Pinnacle International, “Pinnacle International is set to complete all 106 storeys in 2026 and begin welcoming residents to Pinnacle SkyTower. We're excited to be offering them the unique opportunity to live in the tallest building in Canada and be a permanent fixture in the Toronto skyline. Pinnacle One Yonge is the gateway to the Eastern waterfront and will be a destination for all to play, stay, and connect.

Construction on SkyTower began in late 2020 with a deep excavation and the formation of the building’s extensive below-grade levels. After reaching grade, the team completed the podium and initial tower floors before vertical progress accelerated significantly.

In recent months, SkyTower’s dramatic rise has become increasingly visible from neighbourhoods across the city. Its ascent marks only the second time a Toronto building has reached “supertall” status — a designation reserved for towers exceeding 300 metres — following Tridel’s One Bloor West, which surpassed that height in June 2025.

Once complete, SkyTower will bring 958 residential units to the waterfront along with the city’s first Le Méridien hotel, a mix of retail spaces, and 80,000 sf amenities. The tower is also planned to integrate into Toronto’s PATH network, further connecting the development to the city’s growing system of pedestrian corridors.

Phase 3 of the One Yonge masterplan — approved at a height of 320 metres — will eventually join SkyTower as another supertall addition to the site. The community’s first phase, the 65-storey Prestige tower, was completed in 2023, with additional phases slated to replace the former Toronto Star Building in the years ahead.

SkyTower is expected to reach its full height and officially top off in early 2026.
